All Things Yarra Valley
Gin, Lunch, Wine, Gardens, Pottery, Chocolate
Today we will explore the diverse Yarra Valley.
First stop will be the Four Pillars Distillery located in Healesville. Since their launch in 2013, Four Pillars gins have received the highest accolades at spirit competitions around the world. Guests can do a tasting of all the gins in the Four Pillars range.
Lunch and wine tastings will be at Helen’s Hill Estate, a family-owned vineyard and winery. “With the combination of three things – hills, microclimates and the iconic Yarra Valley soil, we knew would make our wines truly interesting and unique to others in the region.”
Next, we visit the gallery of Master Potter & Sculptor, Ted Secombe. After almost 4 decades at his potter’s wheel, Ted says that making pots is more challenging now than when he first began, as his motivation is purely the expression of his ideas and creativity.
Yarra Valley is home to amazing gardens, and the delightful Alowyn Garden is no exception. It is designed along strong symmetrical lines that become blurred by the softness of the spaces and the grace of the trees, within an area of approximately 4 acres. There are 5 clearly defined areas within the gardens, a perennial border, a silver birch forest, an edible garden of generous proportions, a parterre garden and a number of display gardens. We return home approx 5pm – 5.30pm
