Skyhigh Mount Dandenong, Cloudehill Gardens & Broughton Hall

We depart Warragul and travel to SkyHigh Mt Dandenong, one of Melbourne’s most spectacular destinations to visit. At an elevation of 630m, it is the highest natural viewing point in the whole of Victoria, affording staggering views of Melbourne’s skyline across to Port Phillip Bay and beyond. We shall have time to enjoy a coffee and a wander around the beautiful gardens.

We then make our way to Cloudehill Nursery and Gardens. Enroute we may make a quick photo stop (time permitting) at the scenic Silvan Dam Lookout, that offers sweeping views of the lake, valley & forest hills beyond.

The Cloudehill Gardens are known as ‘a garden for all seasons’. Made on an easterly slope at the top of the Dandenongs, Cloudehill is at an altitude of 580 metres. The garden has deep volcanic loam soil and 1.25 metres of rainfall and little frost, all factors to explain why the Dandenongs is one of the outstanding places to garden worldwide.

Overlooking picturesque Cloudehill Gardens, Seasons Restaurant uses the best and freshest local produce and is where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch there will be free time to wander around the nursery.

We leave this beautiful region and head to the spectacular Gardens at Broughton Hall in Jindivick for a guided tour and talk. The garden at Broughton Hall is now 25 years old. The banks, lawns, paths, steps and garden beds were designed and constructed in 1996. Since then, it has been the variety of plants, the density of planting and the original, eclectic nature of the planting scheme that has evolved to become a major feature of this garden.
